About Me

ToryHi, my name is Tory Peake. I am a Registered Nurse with over 20 years’ experience. I became a midwife when living in England and had invaluable experience working as a maternity nurse/nanny in London and the rural countryside. This experience gave me a deeper understanding of the pressures parents can go through with their babies and toddlers.

On my return to Australia I was fortunate enough to work in both city and country hospitals in both the private and public health care settings of NSW. As well as being a registered nurse and midwife, I am also a Child and Family Health nurse. It is through my experience as a midwife and Child and Family Health nurse that I became especially interested in breastfeeding.

I have been working with mothers and babies for over 15 years and graduated as an International Breastfeeding Certified Lactation Consultant (I.B.C.L.C.) in 2007.

Postnatal Angels was established in 2008. In 2011 the opportunity to manage a Child and Family Health Nurse programme presented itself. The programme focused on optimal Infant Mental Health by developing secure attachments between parents and babies.  Babies have the ability to give clear cues. By understanding these cues and responding to them sensitively allows baby to feel safe and secure resulting in them having the confidence to step out and explore the world for themselves.

Further training in a program from the USA called “Circle of Security” and attending an Infant Massage course through the IMIS has given me qualifications to facilitate one on one or group sessions for both.

It is my philosophy that assisting parents to understand and respond sensitively to their babies needs, enables the child to feel safe and secure. If we can ensure our babies develop healthy and secure relationships, then it is a step forward to ensuring they continue to do so throughout their entire life.
